Butler was chosen as the principal role on I Spit on Your Grave (a remake) in 2010, a revenge film and rape thriller. It was initially an unpopular choice for her due to the it was awash in violence, nudity and gender-based subtexts. However, the compelling narrative and feminist elements led her to agree to the role. Steven R. Monroe helmed the film, it was released on the 8, 2010. In November 2011, Butler and Estella Warren began filming the psychological thriller The Stranger Within in Mallorca in Spain. The film was scheduled for shooting in Copenhagen Denmark and New York City.She was part of the crew for the independent feature Treachery starring Michael Biehn which began filming in Los Angeles in June 2012. Butler appeared in The Demented, a 2013 horror movie with Michael Welch, Kayla Ewell and Michael Welch.
